Flavored cigars are popular in the US, and they're becoming increasingly popular around the world. Flavors can be used to attract a new audience, mask the taste of tobacco, or make cigars more appealing to non-smokers who don't want to inhale smoke.
A variety of flavors have been used over time: vanilla, cherry (the most common), chocolate/cocoa bean extract with rum-like undertones; honey; cinnamon; coffee bean extract with caramel undertones; fruit punch with citrus accents; mint leaves blended with menthol crystals for an icy cool sensation--even bacon!
Legislative Effect on Cigar Consumption
The legislative effect on cigar consumption has been negative. Cigar consumption is down, and many cigar lounges have closed their doors because of it. The flavored cigar market has also suffered from this legislation, as many companies were forced to cease production or change their recipes in order to sell their products within legal boundaries.
